Another happy holiday

Just like she did last year, this past Thursday Meltem organized an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving. This time she invited two of her American colleagues from her department, Kim and Louie. She also prepared a superb repast including turkey (which in Turkish we call hindi, i.e. "Indian"!), mashed potatoes (of course), and cranberry sauce (hard to find in Istanbul!). Here we are raising our glasses:

(The turkey looks shiny because Meltem's fiendishly clever culinary technique requires the use of a plastic bag.)

After dinner we broke out the pièce de resistance, an actual pumpkin pie. Not from a can, mind you, but baked especially for us by a local patisserie. (When Meltem called to describe what she wanted, they said, "Oh, you mean the thing Americans eat on Halloween?" Heh.) All in all it was a wonderful night. So we are two for two on Thanksgiving! Hope all our faithful readers had a nice one too.
