Hiatus explained

By the way, sorry we've been incommunicado for a few days (both here and in the world of e-mail). We've been having problems with our wireless Internet access. Normally we view it as a boon of our academic setting, but there's a dark side. The network kept excluding us, so Meltem called the university help line for such matters. The wage-sucking jerk on the other end treated her to a disquisition on how wireless access points should all be configured by the university, since they end up interfering with each other – but the university doesn't have enough staff to do it, so people should just deal with it and use wires. Thanks, Chester! Thanks for doing your job and helping out, instead of giving us a sermon on why we suck! Grrr. Anyway, what I mean to say is that this time there's a technological reason for our silence, instead of us being lazy or uncommunicative.

Interesting to see that Help Desk support blows pretty much everywhere. It's often weak here too.

Short war story: Told, in writing, to call Help Desk to report problems in a certain area. Help Desk called Friday night. Hours later...Help Desk has no way to reach that area. Monday morning...that area finally addresses problem, having never made contact with said Help Desk.

Good to see that you're clear of that hurdle now!
